Intervate was founded by the Directors to provide waste and biomass to energy solutions - drawing on a combined experience of over 60 years in the waste management and renewable energy businesses.
Bill Lilly (Director)
Past 28 years in Wastewater sector as Severn Trent Water’s General Manager for all waste water operation and maintenance for over 1,000 sewage treatment works, 3,000 pumping stations and 2 incineration plants. This included responsibility for a £90 million budget and over 900 staff. During his tenure at STW Bill was responsible for over 30MWe of renewable energy generation - the largest renewable portfolio amongst UK water companies. Bill is uniquely positioned to provide analysis and insight into many different forms of waste treatment and power generation technology - both from a theoretical and practical operating and maintenance perspective. Bill has a B.Sc in Applied Biology.
Andrew MacCormack (Director)
An investment banker since 1986, including seventeen years at J.P. Morgan where he worked in a variety of roles including establishing and running both the India and Turkey offices and senior positions within emerging markets and equity capital markets. Andrew has spent the past few years in roles within private equity and alternative investments
Andrew has a MA (Hons) in Law from Cambridge University.
Julian Ackerley (Director)
Julian has 20 years experience within the Hazardous and Total Waste Management sectors and is a Chartered Chemical Engineer with an MBA from Warwick University. Prior to joining the waste sector he worked for Courtaulds plc in a range of manufacturing positions within their Carbon Fibre Business. Within the waste sector, Julian has worked for Groupo Tradebe SA having set up their UK Waste Management Business and for Biffa Waste Services as General Manager responsible for their Hazardous Waste Operations.
